MEETING CYBERSECURITY, SAFETY, AND RELIABILITY CONTROLS FOR YOUR LINUX-BASED SYSTEMS Marketing Brief WHEN IT MATTERS, IT RUNS ON WIND RIVER A WIND RIVER COMPANY Cybersecurity and anti-tamper controls require significant attention for any aerospace and defense weapons system. Meeting NIST 800-53 Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls is a significant challenge and requires a knowledgeable, available, and well-funded security engineering team. The Wind River ® acquisition of Star Lab combines proven anti-tamper and cybersecurity software for Linux from Star Lab with market-leading embedded software solutions for the intelligent edge from Wind River. Together, the Wind River–Star Lab product portfolio can meet the demanding aerospace and defense (A&D) requirements by protecting classified and/ or sensitive data at rest, delivering secure embedded systems, protecting communication between devices and across systems, safeguarding them over time, and responding quickly as new threats emerge. WIND RIVER AND STAR LAB: MILITARY-GRADE CYBERSECURITY PLATFORM Wind River and Star Lab combined software provides military-grade cybersecurity for weapons systems (see Figure 1). Starting with an embedded multi-core system, a virtualized cybersecurity platform using the Star Lab Crucible Embedded Hypervisor or Wind River Helix ™ Virtualization Platform provides ironclad security for safety-critical systems running on a military system. Critical military applications and safety-critical applications can run on either a real-time operating system, such as VxWorks ® , or an open system, such as Wind River Linux hardened with Star Lab Titanium Security Suite. To test security and safety systems during development and usage, Wind River Simics ® simulates the systems' operation to test and ensure proper and secure operation. Wind River and Star Lab products can be used separately or by combining product portfolios to provide the flexibility to easily run even legacy systems in a certified, military-grade, cyber-secure environment.
